In June 2024, we secured the site of The Elsternwick Club after the club members voted to offer the property for sale to Council. We are grateful to The Elsternwick Club Board and members for entrusting us with the future of the historic site.

As Glen Eira’s population continues to grow, open space is essential, and our community has made it clear this is a top priority. This property represents a major opportunity to address a recognised gap in public open space within the area.

We want to hear your ideas, dreams, and practical suggestions for this historic site. From reimagining the heritage building to designing the surrounding green spaces, every voice matters.

By working together as Council and community, we can create a space that not only honours the history of Elsternwick but also provides a welcoming environment for current and future generations to enjoy. Whether it’s a space for quiet reflection, active recreation, or community connection, the possibilities are endless — and we’re excited to explore them with you.

The transformation of The Elsternwick Club site is a long-term project, beginning with a three-year settlement period. This timeline provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with our community on a shared vision for the space.

We're engaging with the community in three phases. In phase one, we're gathering your big ideas to shape the site transformation, and inviting applications to join our Community Reference Group.

There are many ways to have your say:

• Share ideas from a park or open space you already know and love by posting comments, photos or videos on the tool below.
• Join us at The Elsternwick Club Open Day on Sunday 2 March, 10am–3pm, or visit us at one of our in-person pop-ups.
• Apply to join the Community Reference Group by clicking the tab above.

We’re creating a Community Reference Group of about 10 local representatives, who will be selected through an expression of interest process. The group will play a key role in shaping the design and use of the space.
