RAP purpose
At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.”
Reconciliation Australia
We welcome your feedback on our new draft Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2024-2026 (RAP); our third RAP so far.
The RAP is about strengthening and unifying relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and our broader community.
We want to advance reconciliation to build a community that is inclusive, respectful and acknowledges our First Nations peoples contribution to the community that we are today. We aspire to create a community that is culturally safe for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and that provides them with meaningful opportunities to live and work well.
Through our RAP, Council's commitments come to life - it helps us to build knowledge, respect and engage our organisation and our community in meaningful action for reconciliation through the strategies it sets out.
At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.”
Reconciliation Australia
The RAP is governed by Reconciliation Australia's framework and is based on three core pillars: relationships, respect and opportunities.
Is for a unified, respectful, and thriving community that embraces Australia’s First Peoples for their experiences of the past, their resilience in the present and their aspirations for the future.
Our Reconciliation Advisory Group and Reconciliation Working Group guided the development of our draft RAP at key stages.
We held collaborative meetings with our Traditional Custodians; the Boon Wurrung Land & Sea Council, the Bunurong Land Council and the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Corporation.
Preliminary conversations were also held with First Nation peoples and organisations.
